The Illinois Department of Transportation Wednesday announced the temporary closure of a stretch of IL 157 in Collinsville.

Both lanes of traffic will be closed from Horseshoe Lake Road to United Drive beginning on Monday, June 12 so crews can install a box culvert beneath the highway for the Madison County Transit District bike trail.

Work is expected to be completed “no later than” June 16, an IDOT press release said. Detours will be marked, IDOT said, but motorists are urged to take other routes to avoid the area if possible.

Keller Construction in Edwardsville is handling the work.

Meanwhile, surface patching on area interstates will prompt lane closures, IDOT also announced Wednesday.
