Belleville Police Department has designated a route for the funeral procession of Mark Eckert, former Belleville mayor who died Wednesday.

Police Chief Matt Eiskant consulted with Eckert’s family to plan the route, which will go past Belleville City Hall and down East Main Street while avoiding construction on the Public Square.

Arrangements are being handled by Renner Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at noon Monday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, 115 W. B St.

Afterward, the funeral procession will go south on Second Street (starting at B Street), East on Washington Street, north on High Street, east on Main Street and southeast on Mascoutah Avenue, ending at Walnut Hill Cemetery.

The exact timing is unknown, but people who wish to stand along the route can pay their respects to Eckert and show support for his family.
