Columbia craft distillery expanding to include a luxury wedding and event space
A craft distillery based in Columbia broke ground this week for an expansion that will include a new event center.
Stumpy’s Spirits is working with Poettker Construction to add a “multi-faceted experience center” near its distillery and family farm, according to a press release.
The distillery-inspired luxury wedding and event space will provide an “exclusive and remote experience for its visitors,” stated the release.
The venue will include a large ceremony hall, full-service bar and tasting room, indoor/outdoor lounge, a lower-level event space, prep kitchens, bridal and groom’s suites, offices, restrooms, storage and outdoor spaces.
New streets, three man-made lakes, a parking lot and walking paths are included onsite.
“Stumpy’s is thrilled to embark on this remarkable expansion in our hometown of Columbia,” Adam Stumpf, co-owner of Stumpy’s Spirits, stated in the release.
“This project symbolizes our deep-rooted family values and our dedication to fostering local growth and creating exceptional experiences for our residents and visitors.”
A $500,000 tourism grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity made the expansion possible, according to the release. This project is one of 89 that benefited from a $22.5 million statewide initiative to help increase tourism.
“We are honored to be a part of this expansion supporting a local business in the state of Illinois, where our family-owned business is headquartered,” Ryan Poettker, president of Poettker Construction, stated in the release.
“As a company built on family values, we take great pride in fostering strong relationships with other local businesses like Stumpy’s and look forward to bringing this exciting project to life.”
The expansion is expected to be completed in 2024.
Stumpy’s Spirits is located at 1727 Centreville Road in Columbia.
The distillery is on an 8th generation family farm and produces quality spirits ranging from bourbon and rye whiskey to gin and vodka.
