A Casey’s store at 407 N. Main St. in Smithton was one of multiple sites affected by severe weather that hit St. Clair County on June 30.

Two weeks later, the store remains closed.

When will it reopen?

In response to a written inquiry, Casey’s spokesperson Kendrew Panyanouvong wrote in an email to the BND, “Since the storm, we’ve been able to assess the impacts and have a working plan in place to reopen our store in Smithton the week of July 24 – presuming schedules stay on time.

“We’re currently following precautionary measures to ensure Casey’s guests and team members can reenter our store safely and look forward to serving them again among members of the Smithton community,” wrote Panyanouvong.

“We appreciate the community’s patience as we’re working with contractors to hopefully meet this timeframe.”

Other areas hit hard by the June 30 storm include Millstadt, Freeburg, New Athens, St. Libory and East St. Louis.
