Lane closures on Interstate 270 in Madison County begin Friday

Lane closures on Interstate 270 are expected in Madison County for about three days beginning Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

One lane will be open during construction. The closure is necessary to repair the road going both directions on Interstate 270 between Illinois 3 and Riverview Drive in Missouri.

Construction will last three days and should be completed by by 5 a.m., Monday, according to IDOT.

A detour will be marked, but IDOT encourages commuters to find alternate routes. Those driving on the highway should be aware of workers, changes in signs and conditions, follow posted speed limits and refrain from using mobile devices, IDOT said.
