Anthony M. Geisen, 20, was injured in the crash Sunday morning and later died at OSF St. Anthony’s Health Center in Alton, according to a news release from Shane Liley, the chief of investigations for the Madison County Coroner’s Office.

Geisen was driving a 2015 Ford Focus hatchback north on Henry Street at 5:54 a.m. Sunday through the intersection of Landmarks Boulevard in Alton when the Focus was struck on the passenger side by a 2024 Freightliner tractor-trailer, the news release stated.

The driver of the tractor-trailer refused medical treatment at the scene.
