Schnucks recalls applesauce pouches over lead concerns in cinnamon

Some Schnucks-brand applesauce pouches are being recalled because of elevated levels of lead found in the cinnamon raw materials used for the packets, the grocery store chain announced Friday.

Schnucks and Eatwell Markets customers have been asked to check for the following items:

• Schnucks Cinnamon Applesauce Pouch 12 pack. UPC: 4131801152
• Schnucks Cinnamon Applesauce Pouch 4 pack. UPC: 4131801155
• Schnucks Applesauce Pouch Variety 20 pack. UPC: 4131801157

Customers can return these products to the Schnucks or Eatwell Market store of purchase for a refund, according to a news release from Schnucks.

Schnucks said Austrofood SAS is the manufacturer of the applesauce cinnamon pouches.
