St. Clair County man seriously injured when truck overturns on I-255 in St. Louis County

A 59-year-old Dupo man was seriously injured when his pickup truck overturned on Interstate 255 in south St. Louis County on Monday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol reported.

Gordon B. Shepard was driving a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 east on I-255 west of Koch Road when he lost control of his vehicle at 5:43 p.m. as he was driving too fast for the wet road conditions, according to the report.

The truck struck the median wall, went off the right side of the roadway and then overturned.

A safety device was not in use at the time of the crash, according to the state trooper’s report.

Shepard was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis.

The National Weather Service at St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia Heights reported light rain, fog and mist shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.
