Semi accidents snarl interstate traffic in metro-east

A pair of semi truck accidents are slowing traffic Friday morning in the metro-east.

One crash happened on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 64 at the Illinois 111 interchange.

Two lanes of traffic were blocked by the crash, which happened before 6 a.m. According to the Illinois State Police, it is expected to take until at least 8 a.m. to get the overturned tractor-trailer righted and the mess cleaned up.

Meanwhile, on the westbound side of Interstate 270 at Illinois 4, a semi is on its side on the shoulder.

The truck is not blocking traffic lanes. But it is expected lanes will be obstructed when workers begin to empty its load and upright the semi.
