One killed, two injured in southern Illinois crash
A southern Illinois man is dead and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in southern Illinois Thursday afternoon.
According to Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Barbara Perkins, 45, of Carbondale, pulled out of a private drive and into the path of a car driven by Joe Love, 34, of Murphysboro, who was headed west on Old Highway 13 near Wood Road.
Love’s black Alfa Romeo struck Perkin’s 2010 Toyota Corolla, then hit a utility pole and rolled over, the sheriff’s office reported.
Perkins and a passenger in Love’s car were treated at a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries. Love later died.
This crash, which occurred shortly after 2:30 p.m., is under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Assisting on the call was the Jackson County Ambulance Service, Carbondale Township Fire Department and Jackson County Coroner’s Office.
