Open for just under 18 months, a Smithton business announced that it will close.

“It is with great sadness that I am making this post today,” begins a March 15 post on the Smithton Kountry Market Facebook page.

“Unfortunately after 18 months we have decided we are going to close our doors we are thinking the end of the month,” wrote owner Christy Koerber.

A message left for Koerber was not immediately returned.

The long-awaited store that has a little bit of everything celebrated its grand opening on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022.

Located at 620 N. Main St. in Smithton, the market has multiple features, from groceries to hot meals, coffee drinks and smoothies to baked goods and much more.

Koerber included in the post that she will continue to provide catering services for weddings, birthdays and other events.

“We are thankful for all the people who supported us and that told us daily how much they loved the store, you were a breath of fresh air in these trying times, we will truly miss seeing all of you,” she wrote.

More information will be reported as it becomes available.
