Coroner identifies pedestrian struck and killed by semitractor-trailer on St. Clair County interstate

UPDATE 4/19/24 - An update clarifies a legal change to the victim’s name that was not available at the time of the article’s initial publication.

A semitractor-trailer struck a pedestrian on Interstate 255 North, at mile marker 15, in Cahokia Heights early Saturday.

The victim was identified as Marlene M. Harper 46, of the 2100 block of Vadalabene Drive , Maryvillle, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. Her name was legally changed to Marlene Pulliam in 2017, according to her husband.

She was pronounced dead at 4:35 a.m., Dye said.

The accident happened at 2:51 a.m., according to a release from the Illinois State Police.

“Traffic was re-routed off I-255 northbound to the Mousette exit during the crash investigation,” the release states. “The roadway was re-opened at approximately 8:16 a.m. This is an active investigation and no additional information is available at this time.”
