Natural gas line ruptures in Cahokia; Camp Jackson Road remains closed

A major roadway in Cahokia remains closed as firefighters continue to work to contain a ruptured natural gas line.

The fire department remains on the scene near the 2900 block of Camp Jackson Road, where the Camp Jackson Fire Department responded to the gas leak at about 9 a.m. Monday.

The rupture was reportedly caused by an Illinois Department of Transportation lawn crew that struck the gas line.
