A Pocahontas area teenager died in a single-vehicle crash over the weekend, authorities said.

Alexis N. Willis, 18, was pronounced deceased on the scene early Sunday, according to Bond County Coroner Tony Brooks.

Willis was driving a 2011 Chrysler sedan north on Woburn Road near Country Club Road just outside Greenville at about 1:04 a.m. Sunday when she lost control of the vehicle on a curve, according to a Bond County Sheriff’s Department report.

The car was traveling sideways due to an overcorrection and left the roadway to its west. It then hit a ditch and overturned an estimated six times, the crash report states.

Willis was ejected from the car.

A 20-year-old passenger from Sorento was taken to Holy Family Hospital in Greenville, where she was treated for minor injuries.

Funeral arrangements for Willis are pending with Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville.
