Person of interest in custody for questioning in Cahokia Heights slayings, detective says
A person of interest has been taken into custody for questioning in the shooting deaths of two men at a Cahokia Heights home on Friday, according to Detective DeMarius Thomas of the Cahokia Heights Police Department.
Torian T. Hopkins, 40, and Anthony M. Andrews, 41, were pronounced dead at the scene at 123 Judith Lane at 3:40 p.m., according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. They had multiple gunshot wounds, Dye said.
Hopkins’ last known address is 123 Judith Lane. An initial report said Andrews also lived at the 123 Judith Lane home, but he is from East St. Louis, according to Thomas.
Cahokia Heights police received a call about the shootings at 12:37 p.m., Thomas said. When they arrived, they found two bodies in the front yard, he said.
Thomas said a person of interest is in custody for questioning but did not release other details.
