Man found shot to death in Washington Park. Illinois State Police investigating
A man was shot to death in Washington Park on Sunday.
Leon Richardson, 67, was pronounced dead at 2:14 p.m. at the scene of the shooting in the 5000 block of North Park Drive, said St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
Witnesses told officers they heard three gunshots around 11:57 a.m. behind Good Samaritan Ministries of the Metro East, according to the Washington Park Police Department. Richardson lived in a housing pod near Good Samaritan.
Local police asked the Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation to investigate a body found. “The investigation is in its infancy and no further information is available at this time,” state police said in a press release.
