Police ID missing man fatally struck in Madison County hit-and-run

A 43-year-old Edwardsville man reported missing was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash Friday, Illinois State Police said.

Pablo Puente was identified as the victim, according to a news release from state police.

A preliminary investigation shows Puente was a pedestrian on Illinois 143 southeast of Kendall Drive in Madison County when he was fatally struck about 4:55 p.m. Friday.

Puente was reported missing on Thursday, police said.

Illinois 143 was temporarily closed for the investigation, and the roadway was reopened at 8:10 p.m.

No other information about the crash was released.
