Allegiant will add a new city to its roster of nonstop flights out of MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah, the airline announced Tuesday.

Beginning May 23, you will be able to fly nonstop from MidAmerica to Gulf Shores International Airport in Gulf Shores, Alabama, which is on the Gulf of Mexico coast, according to a news release from Allegiant.

Allegiant already serves the following 12 areas with nonstop flights out of MidAmerica: Destin/Fort Walton Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Orlando/Sanford, Sarasota/Bradenton, Tampa Bay/St. Petersburg and Jacksonville in Florida; Las Vegas, Nevada; Myrtle Beach in South Carolina; Savannah, Georgia; Knoxville, Tennessee, and Phoenix/Mesa in Arizona, according to the airport’s website.

Along with the new flight out of MidAmerica to Alabama, Allegiant also announced that it was adding 43 new nonstop routes in its national network. Two other new airports it is serving are in Colorado Springs and Columbia, South Carolina.

The company said the flights announced Tuesday are part of “one of Allegiant’s largest service expansions in its history.”

“A core aspect of Allegiant’s business model is to provide service during periods with strong leisure demand, such as holidays, summer, weekends and school breaks,” the news release said.
