Funeral services set for former Belleville man whose body was found in Arizona desert
Funeral services have been set for a former Belleville man whose body was found in an Arizona desert last month.
Chris Sins, 34, was reported missing after he was last seen on July 22 in the Sonoran Desert and his body was found on Nov. 9, according to La Paz County Sheriff William Ponce in Arizona.
Sins had gone into the desert near the California border with another man at night and their vehicle had gotten stuck, Ponce said. The two men had walked separate ways and the other man was rescued.
Sins had moved to Bouse, Arizona, to help care for his father.
“He was a caring and kind person who will be missed by all who knew him,” states his obituary posted by the Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt, which is where Sins grew up.
“He enjoyed rock hounding in the Arizona desert, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Chris loved making people laugh and enjoyed riding four wheelers.”
Visitation for Sins will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Leesman Funeral Home at 7 E. Mill St. in Millstadt.
The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home and burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
To help pay for Sins’ funeral, his family has established a GoFundMe page.
