A Collinsville woman fatally struck by a car in Madison County was identified as a person who had been reported missing and endangered.

Patricia Green, 73, was hit by a car on Troy Road east of Hill Top Lane in Collinsville Township, according to information from Illinois State Police and Madison County Coroner Nick Novacich.

The preliminary investigation by Illinois State Police shows a Chrysler 300 was going east on Troy Road at about 6:44 p.m. Sunday and a pedestrian walking eastbound in the eastbound lane of Troy road was hit by the car.

The driver of the car called 911, Novacich said.

The victim, later identified as Green, was taken to Anderson Hospital in Maryville, where she was pronounced deceased, state police said.

Collinsville Police Department on Monday issued a release stating that Green had been reported missing and described her as having dementia. A Facebook post with the release was updated Tuesday stating that the public’s assistance in finding her was no longer needed, but didn’t say why.

Wednesday afternoon, Novacich identified Green as both the person reported missing and the victim in the traffic fatality.
