Storms, cooler temperatures likely this week

Thunderstorms are expected to linger around the metro-east this week. Temperatures will be in the low 90s Monday. But after that a cooling trend will settle in and last through next weekend.

There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. The high temperature will reach 91.

The chance of rain will increase to 30 percent Monday night when the low will be 69. There is a slight chance that storms could be severe.

Temperatures will start to trend down on Tuesday. The high will be 87 with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms during the day. Skies will be mostly cloudy and, again, there is a slight chance that storms could be severe.

There is a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms Tuesday night with a low of 69.

The high will be 84 Wednesday with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms. Skies will be cloudy.

The low Wednesday night will be 69 as the chance of storms remains at 60 percent.
