Lots of rain on the way: 1-3 inches by end of the week
A lot of rain is headed to the metro-east over the next couple of days, with 1-3 inches of rain expected by the time the systme moves out of the area by the end of the week.
There is a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the National Weather Service forecast for Tuesday. Skies will be partly sunny early. But the chance of precipitation will increase as the day goes on. The high temperature will be 87.
Tuesday night, the chance of thunderstorms increases to 60 percent. The low will be 71.
There is an 80 percent chance of storms all day and evening Wednesday with the heaviest rain expected late. The high will be 81 and the low 70.
On Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of storms during the day when the high will be 84. The low Thursday will be 68.
By the time the weather system that produces the storms leaves the area, the metro-east could receive between 1-3 inches of rain.
