I-55-70 reopens after crash causes multiple injuries on metro-east highway
Westbound Interstate 55-70 in Madison County has reopened after it was shut down due to a crash Monday morning, authorities said.
“Multiple people have been transported with injuries,” according to an Illinois State Police news release.
A three-vehicle crash occurred at about 9:45 a.m. at milepost 10 near the interchange with Interstate 255.
Traffic was diverted off the interstate because of lane blockage in both directions on I-55-70.
All lanes were reopened by 12:17 p.m.
No other information was available and the investigation into the crash is ongoing, state police said.
