How did a pickup truck end up in a Caseyville fast food restaurant?

French Village Fire Department

A Caseyville restaurant is temporarily closed after a pickup truck crashed into the building Wednesday evening.

The truck’s owner was sleeping in the parking lot of the Hardee’s located at 8850 Petroff Drive, according to Sgt. Travis Hoguet of the Caseyville Police Department. The next thing the vehicle’s owner knew, Hoguet said, the truck was in the restaurant’s lobby.

Hoguet said there were no injuries. An official police report was not immediately available.

In addition to the police department, the French Village Fire Department responded to the incident and released some details.

“Responding companies arrived on scene with Caseyville Police Department to find a pickup truck had crashed into the lobby area of the restaurant,” the release stated. “Crews immediately assessed the situation, confirming no one was trapped in the vehicle or building and verifying no injuries had occurred.”

The restaurant was evacuated as a precaution and will remain closed for repairs.

Messages left with the fire department and restaurant were not immediately returned.
