Collinsville City Council requests road closure for homecoming parade

Collinsville City Council on Monday night approved a resolution requesting permission from the Illinois Department of Transportation to close Main and Clay streets for the Collinsville High School Homecoming Parade.

The high school celebrates homecoming from Sept. 28 to Oct. 3. The parade is scheduled to take place at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.

The time period for the road closure would be between 3:30-5:30 p.m.

The parade route begins on Main Street, traveling north onto Center Street, west onto Clay Street and ending at Hesperia.

The resolution requires Collinsville Unit 10 to provide a comprehensive general liability insurance policy or an additional insured endorsement naming the city and IDOT as additional insureds. The amounts of the insurance must not be less than $500,000 for bodily injury, and $500,000 or $1 million combined single limit for property damage.

Mayor John Miller was not present at the Monday night meeting.

The council meets next at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at City Hall, 125 S. Center Street.
