More pleasant weather expected through weekend

It’s the last week of summer freedom for many metro-east students.

But at least they’re getting some spectacular weather to enjoy before they have to go back to class.

The high will reach 86 under mostly sunny skies Thursday, according to the National Weather Service. That’s still two degrees cooler than average for the middle of August in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Overnight, skies will be mostly clear with a low of 64.

On Friday, the temperature will reach 88 and skies will be mostly sunny. In the afternoon there will be a 5 mph breeze from the east.

The low will be 65 Saturday night under mostly clear skies.

The weekend forecast calls for highs of 89 and sunny skies both Saturday and Sunday. The overnight low will be 67 Saturday and 69 Sunday.

The next chance of rain comes Monday when the extended forecast calls for a 20 percent possibility.
