The St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office released the identity of the Caseyville woman in her 20s who died in a crash this weekend.

Thania Vasquez, of the 1800 block of Level Street in Caseyville, was pronounced dead at the scene early Sunday morning by the Fenton Fire Protection district.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report, the crash occurred at 11:53 p.m. Saturday on Westbound Interstate 44 near Mraz Lane. The 2011 Toyota Camry Vasquez was driving was involved in a previous crash on Westbound Interstate 44 and stopped blocking a lane. A 2021 Ford Explorer driven by a 21-year-old Ontario man collided with the rear of the Camry, the report explains.

The man was using a seat belt, while Vasquez was not, the report says.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s report lists Vasquez as a 27-year-old, but the St. Louis County Medical Examiner’s Office was told by Vasquez’s spouse that she was 28, a spokesperson for the office said.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is unable to release any more information at this time.
