Highland man killed in motorcycle crash in rural Madison County

A Highland man died when his motorize veered off of the highway and struck a tree Thursday afternoon.
Illinois State Police Troop 8 responded to Illinois 160 near Cherokee Road south of Grant Fork after getting a report about the motorcycle accident.
According to a release from state police, the accident occurred at approximately 2:03 p.m. and involved only the motorcycle.
The driver was traveling north On Illinois 160 when, for an unknown reason, he ran off the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver, who has not been identified by authorities, was taken to an area hospital where he died, according to state police.
