Firefighters at scene of fatal house fire in East St. Louis

Three people trapped inside of their house when fire broke out are confirmed dead, according to East St. Louis Fire Department Assistant Chief Ed Wayne.

Firefighters continued battling the blaze at 3316 Bond Ave. until about 9 a.m. Friday. Neighbors said the fire broke out at about 6 a.m.

A coroner’s investigator has been with members of the victims’ family. About 50 residents of the neighborhood, family members and friends gathered around the two-story home as first responders prepared to remove the bodies of the victims.
