Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old man in Belleville Saturday night.

According to a release from the Belleville Police Department, officers were dispatched to Memorial Hospital at about 7:20 p.m. on the report that a man had arrived with gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a St. Louis hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

It was determined that the shooting occurred in the 500 block of N. 38th St., the release stated without specifying how that determination was made.

Belleville Police Detectives and the Crime Scene Unit are investigating.

No other information has been released.

This is the fourth fatal shooting reported in Belleville in 2025. No charges were filed in two of those cases, however.

A shooting in 500 block of N. 40th St. on July 13 was determined to have been in self defense. Another on April 20, Easter Sunday, was determined to be accidental.

Joseph P. Flagg of East St. Louis was charged with first-degree murder in the alleged shooting of 16-year-old Di’Rico V. Washington on North 81st Street on Feb. 3.
