A longtime Fairview Heights home décor store to close after holidays
Fairview Heights home décor retailer Kirkland’s Home will soon close.
Store manager Kenady Richardson confirmed that the location at St. Clair Square will close and that staff were notified Monday, Nov. 3.
“We’re devastated,” said Richardson.
The store’s official last day is Jan. 26; however, it could be sooner, depending on how much product remains on the store’s shelves. Its last day in the building is Jan. 29.
Amy Sullivan, president, CEO and director of The Brand House Collective (formerly Kirkland’s) said in a Sept. 16 earnings call that the company planned to “close about 25 stores that have natural lease expirations in January of 2026.”
The closings are part of the company’s ongoing partnership with Beyond, Inc., parent company for Bed Bath & Beyond, which was established in October 2024.
Remaining Kirkland’s stores will transition into Bed Bath & Beyond Home over the next two years. Four converted stores are now open in the Nashville, Tennessee area.
About Kirkland’s
Kirkland’s, originally founded in 1966 by Carl and Robert Kirkland, was a franchised gift shop in Jackson, Tennessee, according to the website. It grew from a small gift shop chain to a home décor retailer from the 1970s into the 2000s. By the early 2010s, the company expanded to include home furnishings.
Kirkland’s Fairview Heights opened in the former site of a tire shop at 320 St. Clair Square, on Oct. 3, 2013.
It was previously located in the mall’s lower level outside of Dillard’s, where it opened in fall 1994 and closed in late January 2005.
