Multiple fire agencies responded to a fire in the 300 block of Quince Street in Edwardsville Tuesday.

Assistant Edwardsville Fire Chief Rodney Hill said that the call came in at 2:03 p.m.

Hill said when the first unit arrived at the scene, they noticed smoke coming from the roof and rear of the residence. The building was evacuated, and firefighters discovered a fire in a second-floor rear apartment.

The main fire was in the attic area. Firefighters contained the fire to that area and got it under control within 20 to 30 minutes. There were no injuries to firefighters or residents, Hill said.

The Glen Carbon Fire Department and the Wood River Fire Department also responded to assist.

While their firefighters were battling the Quince Street blaze, two other departments kept watch over Edwardsville. Collinsville responded with a backfill and Troy with an ambulance.
