I-55 south of St. Louis reopened following crash

Southbound lanes on I-55 south of St. Louis finally reopened Monday evening nearly five hours after an afternoon crash closed the highway.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the crash occurred on I-55 in St. Louis County near the I-255 interchange around 2:40 p.m. MoDOT closed all southbound traffic and advised rush hour motorists to use alternate routes.

According to published reports, the crash involved an overturned tractor-trailer whose driver only reported suffering minor injuries.
