Storms likely Tuesday, Wednesday

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely across the metro-east Tuesday.

There is a 40 percent chance of wet weather during the day with the most likely time for storms coming after noon, according to the National Weather Service.

The high will be 86.

The likelihood of thunderstorms increases to 60 percent Tuesday night with wind gusts of up to 21 mph. There is a slight chance that storms could be severe.

The low will be 71.

There is a 70 percent chance of thunderstorms during the daytime Wednesday when it will be much cooler with a high of 77. That’s about 10 degrees cooler than the average high for this time of year in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Wednesday night, there is a 40 percent chance of thunderstorms. The low will be 57.

Sunshine is expected to return Thursday when the high will be 81.

Thursday night, the low will be 60 under mostly clear skies.
