Metro-East SWAT standoff with armed suspect ends

A suspect is now in custody following a Thursday morning standoff with Metro-East SWAT and Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives in Fosterburg.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office issued a public safety alert at 9:56 a.m. that said the subject was armed and inside a home in the 500 block of Fosterburg Road. At approximately 12:30 p.m., the Madison County Sheriff’s Office updated their Facebook post to add the suspect had been taken into custody.

“The armed subject was involved in a domestic-related incident, made threats and is alone inside the residence with a firearm,” according to a public safety alert issued by the sheriff’s office Thursday morning.

The name of the person arrested has not been released.

A portion of Fosterburg Road was shutdown due to the active incident. The updated Facebook post said it will be reopened soon.
