Loaded gun found inside student’s car in Clinton County high school parking lot
A teenager was detained by police this week after a school resource officer and Carlyle High School staff found a loaded gun inside the student’s car in the school parking lot.
In a brief news release about the incident, Carlyle police Chief Jason Herzing said school resource officer Mark Taylor informed the police department on Tuesday that a 16-year-old student was in possession of a firearm.
Police detained and transported the student to the Carlyle Police Department. Officers determined there were no additional threats to students or the community, according to Herzing.
The chief said his department submitted information about its investigation to the Clinton County State’s Attorney and juvenile probation.
No additional information was released. Herzing could not immediately be reached for further comment.
