Man dead after being struck by vehicle in rural Clinton County

Authorities in Clinton County are investigating the death of a 59-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle on a rural highway late Tuesday.
Police and emergency medical services responded to a 911 call at 11:51 p.m. reporting a person had been struck in the 200 block of Wesclin Road near Trenton, according to a release from the Clinton County Sheriff’s Department.
First responders rendered aid at the scene before the man was transported with head and chest injuries to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon, the release stated. The man later died.
Sheriff Dan Travous said the man’s identity is being withheld until the family can be notified.
