Medical examiner releases ID of man killed in Madison County motorcycle crash

The St. Louis Medical Examiner’s office released the identity of a man who died after his motorcycle collided with a semi tractor-trailer on Illinois Route 4 in Madison County Tuesday.

John Crute, 70, of Overland, Kansas was transported from the scene of the crash to a St. Louis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.

According to Illinois State Police, Crute was riding a blue BMW motorcycle just south of Interstate 70 near Marine, when he crossed the centerline on Illinois 4 and into the path of a red Kenmore semi.

The crash happened about 9:10 a.m. on June 9. Both lanes for traffic were shut down as authorities cleared the wreckage and investigated the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, according to state police.
