National furniture retailer to occupy former Value City site in Fairview Heights
Connecticut-based Bob’s Discount Furniture is coming to Fairview Heights and will take up residence at 10705 Lincoln Trail, the former site of Value City Furniture.
The business applied for a building permit for 10705 Lincoln Trail to renovate and occupy the space, according to city documents.
“The word ‘discount’ is in their name, it is not in their products,” Dallas Alley, the city’s land use and economic development director, said at a recent committee meeting.
“I encourage you to look at their website. They are a very good company to have in town.”
The Fairview Heights store will be the first in southern and southwestern Illinois. There is a location in Springfield with multiple others in northern Illinois, including the Chicago area and Rockford.
Alley said the company recently submitted its plan for the store after a long search for a site. The company is patient about choosing where to open stores, he said.
The company is also close to opening a St. Louis store at the former Joann Fabric and Crafts site at 6910 S. Lindbergh Blvd. The South County store is slated to open July 13, according to the website.
Bob’s Discount Furniture is projected to open in Fairview Heights this fall.
