Monroe County man, 66, dead after crash on Illinois 157
Illinois Route 157 was closed at Illinois Route 15 on Wednesday after a crash that killed at least one person.
Cahokia Heights police spokesperson Jonathan Williams said officers responded at 11:41 a.m. to a crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck towing a trailer.
Six people were injured and taken to a hospital, including a man who was not conscious or breathing at the scene, Williams said. Michael A. Kuhlmann, 66, of Waterloo, was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Memorial Hospital at 12:40 p.m., according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
Dye said blunt-force trauma caused Kuhlmann’s death. An autopsy will be performed, he said.
Illinois State Police spokesperson Jayme Bufford said the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit reconstructed the scene.
The road was closed for about a quarter-mile in each direction. Williams said he expects it to reopen by 4 p.m. Wednesday.
