More I-64 lane closures in Fairview Heights. Here’s what to know
The Illinois Department of Transportation say drivers should expect delays this weekend on Interstate 64 in St. Clair County because of lane closures for bridge repairs.
Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on eastbound and westbound I-64 at Illinois 159 between the Exit 12 entrance and exit ramps, starting at 8 p.m. Friday, weather permitting.
Two lanes in each direction are expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Monday, according to IDOT.
IDOT said the work is part of ongoing improvements in the I-64 corridor. The agency also scheduled separate nighttime ramp closures at the Illinois 159 interchange this weekend.
Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, slow down and follow posted construction signs.
