Police asking for information about Alhambra man found dead in Mississippi River

Illinois State Police are asking for information about a man who was found dead Thursday in the Mississippi River.

The body of August W. Stark, 65, of Alhambra, was found between the Martin Luther King and Stan Musial Veterans Memorial bridges. State Police believe his body had been in the river for a couple days, said Master Sgt. Mark Doiron.

Doiron said an autopsy has been conducted, but a cause of death has yet to determined. No trauma appeared on Stark’s body, Doiron said.

State Police is asking the public for information on Stark’s prior whereabouts. Anyone with further information, is asked to contact Special Agent Bryant Johnson at 618-346-3768 or 618-346-3990.
