A new barbecue eatery has opened at the American Legion in Mascoutah, and it has come to be known for its brisket. The menu at Triple R’s Smokehouse at 1414 W. Main St. also includes pulled pork sandwiches, half and full racks of ribs served along an assortment of sides such as red beans and rice, macaroni and cheese, potato salad and coleslaw. The restaurant is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Call 618-566-0525 to find out more.

A Millstadt smokehouse and meat-packing company has changed hands. After 40 years, Mabel and Larry Schubert have sold Schubert’s to David and Susan Kossina and Mike and Wendy Kossina. The new owners are retaining all of Schubert’s employees. Some may remember the meat wholesaler and retailer for providing the 200-foot-long bratwurst for Belleville’s Bicentennial celebration last year. You can find the business at 700 S. Breese St. or call 618-476-1133 to find out more.

Known as Industrious, the new 10,000-square-foot professional space along “Tech Row,” at 555 Washington Ave., provides both communal or private office space for startups, entrepreneurs and other businesses. Tenants have access to a communal meeting room to meet with clients and hold events as well as a complimentary cafe with coffee, beverages and pastries provided.
