U.S. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter is scheduled to preside over the U.S. Transportation Command change-of-ceremony set for 11 a.m. at Scott’s parade field.
Gen. Darren McDew will take the reins of Transcom from Gen. Paul Selva, who has been confirmed to serve as the next vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff.
McDew had previously served as commander of the Air Mobility Command and the 18th Air Force, both based at Scott.
Trascom, one of the Pentagon’s nine unified commands, provides all Defense Department transportation needs during peacetime and war through air, land and sea assets that include the U.S. military and civilian contractors.
