Metro-east Boy Scouts have set a goal of collecting 50,000 pairs of shoes for the poor for their upcoming shoe drive.
The Lewis & Clark Council of the Boy Scouts of America will host the shoe collection on Sept. 11, National Service Day, at 335 W. Main St. in Belleville. The shoe drive is part of Soles4Souls, a Nashville-based not-for-profit organization committed to fighting poverty around the world.
Those interested in participating or to find out more can call Travis Briner at 618-234-9111.
