Sunny and cool weather Friday, warmer and possibly wet this weekend

Temperatures will remain cooler than normal Friday under mostly sunny skies.

But there is a chance of rain later in the weekend and temperatures will begin to rise, according to the National Weather Service.

The high Friday will reach 82, about five degrees cooler than the average high of 87 for this date in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Skies will become partly cloudy Friday night when there is a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms. The mostly likely time for rain will be near midnight.

The 20 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms will continue Saturday when the high will be 86.

Saturday night, the chance of rain will increase to 30 percent and the low will be 67.

Any storms in the area are expected to clear up around 1 a.m. Sunday and the sky will become mostly sunny during the day when the high will be 87.

Sunday night, the low will be 67 under partly cloudy skies.

Sunshine is expected for the start of the workweek in the metro-east when the high temperature will be in the low 90s.
