IDOT to carry out work along I-70, I-55 interchange starting Monday

The northbound I-55/70 ramp to eastbound I-70 and the westbound I-70 ramp to southbound I-55/70 in Madison County are scheduled to be reduced to one lane beginning at 9 p.m. Monday, the Illinois Department of Transportation said.

The lane reductions for each ramp are needed to complete pavement repairs and resurfacing, IDOT said. This work, between Illinois 162 and Interstate 270, is expected to be completed by Sept. 11, weather permitting.

Delays along the road are expected, IDOT said.

All lanes are planned to be open during the Labor Day weekend beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4, until midnight Monday, Sept. 7.
