Business briefing: Illinois is not so business friendly

The Land of Lincoln is failing in its attempt to attract and retain small business.

That’s the conclusion researchers from Web site thumbtack.com have reached after its Small Business Friendliness Survey. The results reveal that Illinois consistently shows a poor showing in the judgment of its small business programs. Therefore, the state got an F grade.

In Ohio, the Buckeye State is receiving more than $18.7 million in federal funding to help small businesses. The state has provided more than $55 million in funds that have been disbursed to the Ohio Development Services Agency to support small businesses. Find out more.

Cable network Epix has left Netflix to join Hulu. The multi-year deal begins next month and will provide Hulu customers with films from Lionsgate, MGM and Paramount. These movies include “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” and “The Wolf of Wall Street.” Terms of the deal have not been announced. Learn more here.
