The St. Clair County Treasurer’s Office has extended its deadline to pay the second installment of property taxes until midnight Wednesday because of online server issues on Tuesday.

Pat Reynolds, the office manager for the treasurer’s office, said there were periodic online server issues throughout Tuesday, including a three- to four-hour outage.

The original deadline was midnight Tuesday.

There were about a dozen payments that came in between 3 and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The county will be refunding the late fees on those payments, Reynolds said.

She added most payments still got through during the high-traffic day.

“We’re telling people to try it again, and apologizing profusely,” Reynolds said.

Residents have until midnight Wednesday to pay online and also can pay in person at the treasurer’s office.
