IDOT to conduct work along Illinois 158 between Columbia, Belleville

The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to begin road construction along Illinois 158 between Columbia and Belleville on Sept. 14.

Work is planned in both directions of Illinois 158 from Illinois 3 near Columbia to Illinois 15 in Belleville, weather permitting.

One lane in each direction will remain open until work is completed, IDOT said. The work is needed to complete a safety rumble strip on the shoulders.

The work is expected to be completed by Sept. 25, IDOT said.

IDOT added motorists should look for “road construction ahead” signs, reduce speed, watch for slow-moving or stopped traffic, and use additional caution when traveling near and throughout the work zone.
